Uterine Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence
The uterus is hanging in place by a system of suspensory ligaments. While these ligaments are extremely strong, they succumb to gravity, weakening or traumatic stretching - similar to the wrinkles on our face. Prolapse simply means that the uterus is hanging father down in the body than it normally should. There are varying degrees of prolapse and is not necessarily a problem unless it is causing uncomfortable symptoms or decreasing quality of life.
This image was created to be an antidote to typical image searches for female reproductive anatomy. Excellent for midwives, doulas, uterine massage groups, moon circles, red tent gatherings, body work courses and doctors offices.
