Mullerian Tubes

Mullerian Tubes

Upon even closer inspection of the uterus, the fusion of the two mullerian tubes produces a special pattern of muscle cells in the innermost layer of the uterus. The structure of muscles cells in these tubes is similar to a metal spring. These mirrored spirals of muscle produce peristaltic contractions to complete its tasks and the seam where the two tubes overlap are a region in the uterus where mechanical strain is the strongest. By design, the uterus struggles with itself!

This image was created to be an antidote to typical image searches for female reproductive anatomy. Excellent for midwives, doulas, uterine massage groups, moon circles, red tent gatherings, body work courses and doctors offices.
