Personal Piece: Modern Life

In a dream-like state I imagined myself above the earth, looking down on what I call "the human plane". I saw all of the suffering, confusion, vices, troubles. This is probably not news to any of you and you've heard it all before, but in my dream state I was seeing how culturally we have developed this paralyzing need for entertainment - dopamine addiction basically.  In this moment of clarity, I remembered what feels real to me - to simply hang out with people I like. I laugh a little at myself when saying this because it sounds rather Pseudo-profound and juvenile, but I don't really know how to improve on it. The only thing that really matters here on earth is to hang out with the people we love with the little time we have! You can quote me on that. The news and events and endless entertainment being forced on us, is so... distracting. It's absolutely exhausting. That is what this piece is about.

So many art supplies coexisting here: Watercolor Markers, Colored Pencil, Pen, Gel paint, Metallic Embroidery Thread on toned watercolor paper. PS: I showed this to my Mom and she said "You know Jessica, you are really releasing all your bullsh*t thinking through your art. It resonates with people going through something similar." So here I am, releasing my bullsh*t thinking with you, I wonder if it resonates. RIP Mom
