Sometimes new beginnings happen in the airport. Here's a collection of what we've worked on together thus-far.

Back in 2017 I received a call while in the Sacramento airport after a transcontinental flight. I was asked - can you do a maxillary sinus illustration in a couple days? My confidence was high because in my shoulder bag was my trusty laptop, a sketch pad and a no. 2 school pencil. I completed this project in a couple days on my mom's kitchen table and thus began the relationship with this incredible biotech company 3NT Medical.

Instead of creating a 3D animation, we chose to use my 2D illustration as a backdrop to show their actual product maneuvering through the sinus via the nasal cavity - a very clever use of resources!

Gloved hands performing endoscopic surgery using a tool, with a focus on precision. The background is a soft gradient of pale colors.

Let's talk traditional endoscopes for a second. Look at the wrist strain as the surgeon is not only trying to stabilize a cumbersome and heavy device but also managing two thick cables. The endoscope itself is a static thick solid scope which has extremely limited viewing capability leading to unnecessary removal of healthy soft tissue and even drilling of bone. The ultra-maneuverable Peregrine™ Drivable ENT Scope provides up-close, unique views of lateral sinus disease and the Eustachian Tube – in a single endoscope. Watch the video below to see the an endoscope reimagined and how extremely maneuverable it is.

From 3NT's website about their Micro endoscope: Colibri™ is purpose-built for the otologist, with stable, lightweight ergonomics allowing you to stabilize your hand against the patient’s head and keep the device precisely where you want it.

Colibri™ integrates a maneuverable suction, so you can enjoy endoscopic vision without sacrificing a hand.

Our miniature wide-angle view endoscope enables you to go into the ear and obtain close-up views minimizing resection and bone removal. (Illustration digitally painted using Photoshop and Illustrator).

Here we decided to overlay an illustration on top of a CT scan with actual imagery from the scope which can complete a near-180° turn.
