

Stanford Medicine Link between Gum Health and Rheumatoid Arthritis
Scientists at the Willam Robinson lab at Stanford Medical University discovered that gum disease can help trigger rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They found that when bacteria from infected gums leak into the bloodstream, the immune system attacks them — but in some people, those same immune cells accidentally attack the joints too, causing RA flare-ups.
