Cervical Cerclage
In cervical cerclage, a surgical tape is sutured in and around the neck of the cervix in order to keep the amniotic sac from slipping out. This procedure is performed vaginally while the patient is awake with an epidural and ensures the success of a baby coming to term. The suture is removed before or after delivery depending on need for cesarean section.
This image was created to be an antidote to typical image searches for female reproductive anatomy. Excellent for midwives, doulas, uterine massage groups, moon circles, red tent gatherings, body work courses and doctors offices.
